Its a great night for baseball....well, as good as its been so far.
Wednesday, June 4th, 8:42 pm and bottom of the 7th inning. Your Brainerd Blue Thunder is taking on the Rochester Honkers. There are a few unhappy looking clouds in the sky and its a bit chillier than we are use to for June in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes area. BUT THERES NO RAIN, so I'll take it!
Its been a wild week of weather. Drizzle, cold, rain, hail, fog and to top it all off, saturdays game was pushed back becuase of the tornado warnings sounding loud and clear in Brainerd. This has kept the average fan from enjoying a Northwoods League game. But there has been the faithful few that has still been to every game. We at the Brainerd Blue Thunder would like to take this chance to thank those people. If the boys are on the field, you are in the stands. And we couldnt do it without you.
Please, let all your friends and family know about the good games and great times they are missing.
And of course, PRAY FOR SUNSHINE
Thank you for all your support,

Road Construction....NO PROBLEM
Dont let the on going road construction on Mill Ave stop you from coming out and supporting your Brainerd Blue Thunder. The park is as easy as ever to get to. Instead of turning onto Mill Ave at the JC Penneys intersection, all you need to do is go down another 2 blocks and follow the orange road signs. Its still a nice easy straight shot right to Q St and Mills Field.
Rumor around this part of town is that Anderson Bros is AHEAD OF SCHEDULE (does that EVER happen when it comes to road construction?) so hopefully it will only be a matter of weeks before the new Mill Ave is open. We hear that the Co Rd 3 bridge is set to reopen tomorrow(6/5/08) so that is good news for all of our fans coming from the north.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Blue Thunder
email us at info@brainerdbluethunder.com or give us a call at 218-838-2160

2008 Blue Thunder Advertising Opportunities.
Thank you for considering Blue Thunder Baseball as a great way to advertise and promote your business. We have an option that fits everyone’s budget. Without your continued support, baseball at this level would not be possible in our community. Our fans recognize that it takes a community effort to keep Northwoods Baseball in the Brainerd/Baxter area. We have one of the nicest stadiums in the Northwoods League and we provide an affordable and entertaining event that keeps fans coming back all summer. This is your opportunity to get involved and be part of this exciting time.
Become a Blue Thunder Host Family
Player Host Family Information
ADOPT A PLAYER
Each year, more than 360 players from all across our great nation come to Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Canada to play baseball in the Northwoods League.
Most players will arrive in Brainerd sometime between Memorial Day and June 1st. The regular season starts June 1st and ends August 15th. However, the season can be extended if the team reaches the League playoffs. These young aspiring ball players continue to hone their baseball skills playing 68 games during their time in Brainerd.
Host families will provide a home, a bed, and at least one meal per day (usually a breakfast or lunch) during the baseball season. Also, you would provide the player with lots of moral support. The player becomes a member of your family while they are away from their own families.
Hosting a player can be a rewarding experience. Some of the benefits are listed here:
Ø Your family receives free season tickets – All games home and away
Ø Your family will attend special host family events
Ø You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the future of a young man
Ø You might be getting to know a future Major League Baseball Star
Ø Lots of fun, and great memories
We will also need host families for our summer interns (college students male and female). If you are interested in becoming a host family for a player or intern during the summer, please contact Pam Marr at 218-828-2825 or e-mail at pam@brainerdbluethunder.com or return the attached application to P.O. Box 1028, Brainerd, MN 56401.
Thank you,Blue Thunder Baseball
See Them First!
See them First
Your Brainerd Blue Thunder players are the future of the Major Leagues…
and you have the chance to see them first!
The Blue Thunder competes in the 14 team, Northwoods League. A league made up entirely of the best collegiate players, coming to live and play for cities all over the north. This is their chance to suit up, travel and compete in a “home team” atmosphere. These college all-stars, come and live with host families in the community and are not paid (to keep their NCAA eligibility). But you’ll feel their pride for Brainerd as they give it their all for the Thunder, every inning.
You have a chance to see baseball at some of the highest levels without having to make the trek to the twin cities. Best of all, you’ll be supporting and cheering the future of baseball, right here in Brainerd. You’ll find yourself saying, “Oh yeah, I knew him when he played for the Thunder”
You’ll also re-discover the simple pleasure of a hot-dog, the crack of a wooden bat and perfect summer nights. The party deck at Mills Field is an excellent way to enjoy a game with a group of friends or set up a corporate night out.
